Enhanced Energy Efficiency

One of the most effective ways to reduce greenhouse emissions is to be more efficient. By incorporating new technologies and strategies, Safe-Way has significantly reduced our carbon footprint.

Building for energy-efficiency: In the United States alone, buildings are responsible for 25-35% of greenhouse gas emissions. By making simple changes, like using the proper amount of insulation, we can save half of the energy it takes to heat, cool, light, and otherwise provide power to buildings. And, with buildings lasting for 40-50 years or more, efficiency choices we make now will last at least a generation.

Safe-Way Door’s commitment to the environment is an ongoing effort that incorporates the utilization of green products and services in all aspects of the manufacturing process.

Our manufacturing facility uses recycled products as much as possible, from start to finished product; we try to implement many of these products in the manufacturing process. Below is a list of areas where we utilize recycled products.

Packaging - Many of our cardboard, plastic and foam packaging materials are made from recycled materials.

Insulation - Our expanded polystyrene insulation is recyclable and is also CFC free. Expanded polystyrene also maintains its insulating value throughout the life of the product.

Wood and Composite products - Several composite wood products produced by Safe-Way Door utilize paper and wood chip recycling.

Steel and Aluminum Products - Whenever and wherever possible, Safe-Way uses steel and aluminum materials that originate from recycled material.

Rubber, Plastic and petroleum based products - Anywhere possible, recycled petroleum products are utilized.

Finished Products - Safe-Way Door manufactures many items that promote energy efficiency that lower utility consumption. While visiting our site look for the "Green Certified" logo on certified products to receive tax credits under the Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008, signed into law by President Bush on Oct. 3, 2008. Applies to an insulated garage door installed on an insulated garage qualifies for the energy tax credit, as long as it is part of the taxpayer’s principal residence, has a U-factor equal to or less than 0.35, and has a means to control air filtration at the door perimeter. (Same criteria as previous.). The maximum amount that a tax payer may claim from all of these tax credits combined is $500 over the lifetime of the tax credit (2006, 2007 & 2009). (If a taxpayer already claimed the full $500 credit in 2006-2007, no further tax credits are available. The credit applies to the product only (no labor), and the maximum credit for all improvements is $500. As always, contact a tax professional for more information on how any tax credits may apply to you. A MANUFACTURER’S CERTIFICATION STATEMENT can also be downloaded or printed on these items.
